​     Thank you to all the parents who came out for the parent/teacher interviews.

      In math, we are continuing to work on counting backwards.  We are now practicing counting backwards from 50 and it is tricky!  The children would benefit from some review at home.  This week our focus is going to be number lines and their benchmark numbers.  We will be building and labelling number lines, first with the numbers at the ends and then the middle.  For example if we are drawing a number line from 0 to 20 we would put 10 in the middle.  Next we would figure out what comes between 10 and 20.  Students will be asked to show where 6 would be, where would 19 be, etc.  I will be asking students to model this this using snapcubes with a different colour representing the benchmarks and they will draw various number lines. Then we can use the number lines to solve problems!

     Now that winter is here, it is a good idea to send an extra pair of mittens and socks for your child to leave in their clothing bin at school.
